ABSTRACT: By the end of the spring of 1968, French society had experienced the biggest protest movement in its contemporary history. Later on, May 68 became one of the most controversial subjects of French historiography. Considering current state of historiographical arguments this article proposes to revisit one of the earliest interpretations of the Events of May 68
